Pig Review –
There is this phrase that gets used today: that things can be a ‘mood’. It is one of those concepts that is difficult to define, but you instantly recognise it when you see it. Today, we have a film that is a mood from the moment it starts till the moment it ends.
So to set the scene, we open in a forest by a river where Robin “Rob” Feld (Nicolas Cage) lives with his pig Pig and spends his days rummaging for truffles. He trades his truffles for supplies once a week with Amir (Alex…

Thomas Paine publishes Common Sense.

The pamphlet called for independence for the Thirteen Colonies from Great Britain. The incendiary pamphlet immediately became a phenomenon and was widely distributed and read aloud at meeting halls and taverns. Paine linked the cause of independence to the emerging American political identity, arguing that rule by the British monarchy was tyrannical and that the idea of a King was obsolete. He went on to assert that the American colonies should draft a Continental Charter and defend their independence with arms. Common Sense was well-received by reviewers and hugely impacted public opinion, swaying it in favor of independence.

Baked Crepes with Cottage Cheese
This looks fantastic!
One of my childhood joys was baked crepes with cottage cheese. In a country with so few candies and sweets to in from the shops, homemade desserts were heaven for us. This recipe is one that I did not try for a few years. It is one of my favorites but keep forgetting about it.
In Romania, we roll the crepes and stuff them with chocolate, jam, cheese, meat, or spinach. We name them “clătite” and they are amazing.

The Atlanta Child Murders
The Atlanta Child Murders were a series of homicides committed between 1970-1981 in Atlanta. The 28 victims consisted mainly of children, adolescents, and a few adults. The man suspected of the murders, Wayne Williams, was sentenced to life in prison, and although he was only prosecuted for two of the murders, he is believed to be the serial killer.
The first of the Atlanta Child Murders occurred in mid-1979 when 14 year old Eddie Hope Smith and Alfred Evans disappeared about 4 days apart. Both of their bodies were found on July 28 in a wooded area, with one of the victims killed by a gunshot wound. The murders continued through 1979 when 14 year old Milton Havery went missing in September, with his body not being found until November, and 9 year old Yusuf Bell disappearing while running an errand for his mother. He was later found strangled to…
