Black Monday is coming. Every year speculation arises as to which NFL head coaches will not be with their current team the following season, with the casualties seeming to fall the day after the regular season ends. That said, sometimes general managers and presidents are so enamored with getting rid of their coach, they can’t wait for Black Monday and do so right after the final game ends on Sunday. Here is my list of current coaches and their status, IN MY PERSONAL OPINION.
Let’s start preparing for the playoffs or at least the 2022 NFL Draft:
Arizona: Kliff Kingsbury
Atlanta: Arthur Smith; Probably gets another year to figure things out.
Baltimore: John Harbaugh
Buffalo: Sean McDermott
Cincinnati: Zac Taylor
Cleveland: Kevin Stefanski
Dallas: Mike McCarthy; Jerry Jones is loyal to his coaches.
Green Bay: Matt LaFleur
Indianapolis: Frank Reich
Kansas City: Andy Reid
LA Chargers: Brandon Staley
LA Rams: Sean McVay
Miami: Brian Flores; The guy is a good coach and the Dolphins are coming on.
New England: Bill Belichick; The best coach in the NFL, hands down.
New Orleans: Sean Payton
New York Giants: Joe Judge; I get the feeling the Giants really like Judge and perhaps GM Dave Gettleman is the man on the hot seat.
Philadelphia: Nick Sirianni; The Eagles are still in the playoff hunt and Sirianni’s honeymoon period is still ongoing.
Pittsburgh: Mike Tomlin; The Steelers do not fire coaches and Tomlin has the team playing competitive football year in and year out.
Seattle: Pete Carroll
San Francisco: Kyle Shanahan; The 49ers are a sleeper team in the NFC playoff push.
Tampa Bay: Bruce Arians
Tennessee: Mike Vrabel
Washington: Ron Rivera
Let’s have a discussion about next season:
Carolina: Matt Rhule; He fired offensive coordinator Joe Brady. Next year he is coaching for his job.
Denver: Vic Fangio; The Broncos are playing better of late, however, probably need to make the playoffs for Fangio to be coaching the team in 2022.
Detroit: Dan Campbell; Might as well give Campbell another year. You can’t keep recycling coaches with this mess.
Houston: David Culley; Are the Texans’ troubles really all Culley’s fault?
Las Vegas: Rich Bisaccia; The interim tag makes Bisaccia a lame duck. Has he proven enough to have such tag removed?
New York Jets: Robert Saleh; Perhaps another year but will be in red at this time in 2022 if things don’t dramatically improve.
Come to my office and bring your set of keys to the building with you:
Chicago: Matt Nagy; Perhaps the easiest choice on this list.
Jacksonville: Urban Meyer; Yikes
Minnesota: Mike Zimmer; The Vikings have been in every game but have been spinning the tires of mediocrity for a few years now. It may be time.
