Fats Domino – Whole Lotta Loving — America On Coffee
I love me some Fats Dominos (and Chubby Checkers). As a portly pianist with a love for early rock ‘n’ roll, Fats is an inspiration.

Absolutely! I had the early rock and roll forced on me by my dad back in the day. I’m happy for that! Great stuff!

Ha, yes! My mom always listened to the local oldies station. It’s had a huge influence on my songwriting. My biggest “hit,” “Hipster Girl Next Door,” is hugely influenced by that late 1950s/early 1960s rock ‘n’ roll, doo-wop sound: https://tjcookmusic.bandcamp.com/track/hipster-girl-next-door

I can definitely hear the 50’s influence. Very catchy number! Plus, you worked in a Margaret Cho reference! Nicely done!

Haha, thanks, dude! That was a fun song to write. It’s still my most-requested song at live shows, and I always close out with it. My buddy John and I loop in a long medley of different pop songs in A major/F# minor at the end, before finally returning to the final chorus. Good times.
Maybe if I ever get up to New England, I can open for Blab Pipe on some shows. : D

Only if we can open for you in the south. It’s getting too cold for my bones!

Deal, dude. Maybe we can seriously set something up for this summer down this way. I also host a front porch concert twice a year—once in the spring, once around Halloween—and if y’all wanted to make the trek for the promise of very little compensation and a place to crash, haha, maybe y’all could play one of those.
